ALL IN: A Quick Word On Commitment

Commitment. “The state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity”. To add on to this definition, I believe commitment goes beyond dedication to certain things. I believe the word “committed” is a character trait. It sets us apart from others. When someone is committed they are willing to do whatever it takes in ALL areas of their life.

Commitment can be shown through many actions, beliefs, and practices, but I believe the best way to exemplify commitment is to be disciplined. I see these two things together as one. Like they are married at the hip. You can’t be disciplined and not committed, and you cannot be committed and not disciplined.

A person way smarter than me once said, “Discipline is the bridge between GOALS and ACHIEVEMENTS”.

COMMIT first, figure it out later.

Taking the first step in any direction that requires extreme commitment is very difficult. Often times we get caught up in the details, the minutiae. We want to figure out the whole process, answer all the what ifs, and bogus mind conceived scenarios that are not real.

We come to realize that it feels so much better to just make the leap by taking action rather than trying to figure everything out. We have to get out of our own way. Most of the time we already have all of the right answers or at least we have a good idea!

Hell, it is okay to be bad. Everyone is bad at first. That is the nature of everything. I see this in my personal life where it took me months to film my first one minute video! I needed this camera, this lighting, this microphone, and so on and on. A mentor of mine called it the “fear of gear”. Trust me, you don’t need all of this stuff. I find myself using my phone to film most of my videos now which I had all along!

I had to double down and commit. I committed that the equipment wasn’t going to hold me back. We all have something we fear is holding us back. It is not the “thing” it is truly us. We all have something to say. Its time we start saying it!

Trust me, once you go all in and commit. You take that first action, the snow ball effect comes in to play. One action leads to the next then the next. Just commit to yourself that yes you can do whatever you want. Yes it will take longer than you ever expected. Yes, it will be worth it.

This is true in all areas of life. You see it in fitness, health, wealth, love, and happiness. If you can remain disciplined and committed… there is absolutely nothing you cannot achieve.

You cannot achieve anything worth-while without commitment.

Charlie Monger said “The world is not yet a crazy enough place where we reward the undeserving.”

Things will certainly be hard. If you have not incurred any set backs or hardships just yet, trust me they will come. You will be better because of them. Think of a military general. No one will remember the person who goes untested. It is the hero who has been battled test over and over again that becomes the ultimate champion.

You must brave out negative circumstances and situations by moving forward into the direction of your goals at all costs.

One of my favorite analogies for this is Tai Lopez’s “man on the moon”. It took us human beings tens of thousands of years of civilization to accomplish such an incredible feat. Thousands of years of life dedicated to science, physics, mathematics, etc. that eventually allowed us to gain the knowledge needed to venture where no one has ever gone before. We now travel to space regularly and thanks to Elon Musk, we can send a rocket to outer space then land back on earth in the same rocket!

Taken this into consideration, how hard is your goal to achieve? How ridiculous does it really sound? Not so hard or bad right?

Start practicing discipline.

Begin every day with a routine. Establish your goals and your objectives every day with your outcome in mind. Ask yourself, what is the outcome I want for today? Then work backwards.

As you stay disciplined, you stay committed.

Back to Charlie Monger’s quote. Be worth a damn. Deserve the things you want. Why should you have it over any other person? Have you been working at your craft longer and harder than anyone else? Have you done the hard things every day that others won’t do. Gary Vee says “If you want the 1% life, you have to do the 1% things”. Are you doing the 1% things?

Being committed and disciplined means you are reliable. You do not procrastinate. You do the right thing the first time and you get stuff done. You do what you say you are going to do. Period.

Being committed has nothing to do with anyone else. Any outside distractions, circumstances, set backs, negative people, etc. It is between you and you. We have to raise the standard for our lives!

Over Commit and Over Deliver!

This is a Grant Cardone principle that I will leave you with today. If you want to achieve the extraordinary. You want to live the 1% life. Without all the fluff and rah-rah, you must OVER commit to everything, and then OVER deliver.

People will say, “Oh, you are stretching yourself to thin”. Hey, they don’t know what in the hell you are capable of. Stay in your lane and focus on doing the absolute most.

Yeah, all you got is all you got… but most folks never know what their true “all” is under they over commit and shit gets real. You find out quick what you are made of and then you raise your standards and activities to match your commitments.

I want to challenge you today… find your “All In”. Over commit to your goals, dreams, life, loved ones, relationships, etc. Made the commitment to yourself that the way it has been will not be the way its going to be. I love you all! REMEMBER… BE THE BETTER YOU! Go slay today.
