Kelly's Story
Kelly began her fitness journey training with her daughter. She has remained disciplined, but also found the healthy balance between fitness and lifestyle. This is Kelly's story in her own words.
How and why did you get started on your fitness journey? "I started for several reasons, 1. My daughter was already training and I felt if I trained with her she would be more accountable and she has been, 2. I get to spend time with my daughter and we are creating lifelong choices to be healthier, and 3. Because I had chronic lower back pain and no prior injuries and felt I needed to be in better shape and my pain would go away which it did. And 4. Although I was close to goal weight, I wanted to look and feel better about myself which I do."
How helpful has having a coach/trainer been for you? "My trainer Matt has been extremely helpful in many ways. 1. His knowledge for the human body is amazing, he knows and advises us with issues of every aspect of our body, whether it is where we want to improve, how to deal with soreness issues or problems. 2. He has created a concise diet for each of us that works and we have seen great results. 3. He is always positive and knows exactly how hard to push us with our workouts, diet and isn’t negative with our faults. 4. We would not be where we are without him; we would not keep coming without having him helping us."
What are things you have learned along the way? "1. Diet and exercise and properly maintaining both to optimize each other. Proper stretching and proper exercise. Proper education on our bodies and how certain muscles work and function."
From where you are today, what is most important to you and your fitness goals moving forward? "I am in better shape now then I was when I was 29 and I will forever have fitness in my life because it is such an important role in the way I feel and look."
What is the single most important thing you learned that you would like to pass on to others who are getting started? "That you don’t have to have a perfect diet record or workout schedule, that any little form of each is better than where you were before. That starting any form of fitness and proper diet is a lifelong asset."
